Booty Cancer
Booty cancer is another way of referring to anal cancer. Anal cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the anal canal and the anus. It is a rare disease among the general population, but is very common among gay men. Along with that, infections like HIV and Syphilis are also very common among gay men. Gay men who don’t have HIV are over 20 times more likely to get anal cancer than the general population. Gay men who DO have HIV are about 100 times more likely to get anal cancer. Rates of anal cancer among gay men have been increasing every year. This is because gay sex often causes anal fissures or tears. The anus is supposed to remove waste from the body, and having gay sex will eventually cause tears and cuts to the anus. These tears can get infected.
