Acronym for an 'Old Wise Lesbian'. This lesbian is often a professor, was alive during the AIDS pandemic, and is a fierce feminist. She is most likely a K.D. Lang and Tracy Chapman fan, and prefers malt over hops. She has contempt for most men as a result of years fighting the hegemony and has had dinner with Gloria Steinem. She has a strong political relationship with the word lesbian and is reluctant to be referred to by any other term. Her sense of humour is sarcastic, occasionally self deprecating, and very sharp.
