A 'truly Asian' country that treats non-Malays as second-class citizens and non-Muslim Malays as criminals, where corruption is the very definition of honest government administration, and where Islamo-fundamentalism is so rife you would be busted just for holding hands with a girl. Freedom of speech is a myth - even if you are backed with undisputed facts, speaking against government policies will get you prisoned without trial. Freedom of religion is a lie - it applies only to Islam. Mosques are build all over the places while churches and temples are razed to the ground without care for the sentiments of the non-Malay population. Non-Malays are free to choose religions (read:Islam) but Malays who convert will be harrassed, humiliated, tortured, jailed and may even be executed. The people who say that Malaysia is a nice country are usually ignorant Caucasian tourists who had never been anywhere else than the beaches, shopping complexes and resorts organized by their travel agents; and also didn't stay anywhere other than the cozy hotels of Kuala Lumpur, probably around the vicinity of Ampang area. They have yet to delve further into the real face of Malaysia behind the sugar-coated image projected by its Tourism Board.
