A creepy-cute aesthetic similar to traumacore combined with elements of cutecore, weirdcore. Some elements include fake gore, themes of self harm, sanrio characters, lots of pink, anime girls, bandages, blood, bugs, meat, intrusive thoughts and similar messages typed out on the pictures, generally cutesy/childish things, liminal living spaces, knives, etc. The point is to have a contrasting aesthetic between the cutesy elements and the very grim and violent ones. Not all media is purely dark matter, but can just be dark humor. Cutegore is definitely not for everyone but there is still a strong community that enjoys it.
