#ourdeathisnotyourproperty or the singular version #mydeathisnotyourproperty is a hashtag used to speak out against harassment towards Shawols over the passing of SHINee’s Kim Jonghyun. It has started by a user on Tumblr named taeminscoconuthead when he realised that many of his followers share a very similar experience of a random user messaging or sending to their inbox speaking about how they were disrespecting a “dead man” which obviously refers to Jonghyun. Some people had also experienced this type of behaviour in real life with some users explaining that they heard this at a workplace, school and even a family member. This shameless act could go back around the time the singer’s death has been announced back in December 2017 or January 2018. Users would apply this hashtag to their posts to speak out about their personal experiences about getting harassed. This is so if anyone else sees it and has been through it, they would know that they were not alone. If they haven’t, then it would be an eye opener for them to take care of themselves and look out for anyone who may go through it.
