Paperboy
Pronounced: Pay-per-boy Plural: Paperboys Pronounced: Par-per-boy-ss Noun: 1) A person who's job is to deliver newspapers to certain households via mailbox or doorstep. This was a usual youth job in the late 20th century. However, it has fallen out of favor due to the fact that cars exist. During the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's, bicycle was the main vehicle of choice for paperboys. Cars are much faster. This and the fact that newspapers are usually found within boxes that contain the newspaper has made the job of being a paperboy quite rare. 2) A game released on several early consoles, early computers, and an arcade machine. The game consists of riding a bicycle and throwing papers at customers. The game was released in arcades, and began to be ported to other systems starting in 1986. Paperboy was ported to the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron (1986), Commodore 64 (1986), Commodore 16 (1986), Amstrad CPC (1986), ZX Spectrum (1986), Apple II (1986), TRS-80 Color Computer (1986), MS-DOS (1988), Apple IIGS (1988), NES/Famicom (1988) (1991, Japan), Game Boy (1990), Game Boy Color (1999), Atari ST (1989), Amiga (1989), Atari Lynx (1990), Sega Master System (1990), Game Gear (1991), and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis (1991) (1992, Japan).
