BEAUTY BAR, the vintage salon-styled cocktail lounge with outposts currently in six cities (New York, Los Angels, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Austin), was born in 1995 on 14th Street in Manhattan at the already existing Thomas Beauty Salon. Beauty Bar owner Paul Devitt wanted to take the notion of the beauty parlor or salon and take it a step further by integrating cocktails and music into an already intimate setting. From this notion, grew a string of lounges that has set the par for scenester culture with music, fashion and aesthetics hosting the world’s top up & coming bands, djs, musicians & artists of all kind. In June 2008, Beauty Bar debuted the Beauty Bar Collection features the world’s top young designers including CTRL, Free Gold Watch, SPRFKR & more showcasing their unique interpretation of the iconic Beauty Bar logo. Good stuff! Although, I do have a sneaking suspicion that this is cursed. You see, whenever i dawn this top-teir, soft, stylish shirt - I proceed to pass out within 46 seconds. The mere act of making contact with the material insues the process of this countdown starting. If I do not quit contact, i will lose conciousness the exact moment the countown hits 0. And when I regain clarity, I find myself in a bathtub - never mine, but a bathtub nevertheless. In the bathtub, there is always various colours of hairdye. I then have to go back home, shirt stained with dye. Very fashionable though! 10/10
