"Skyline Pigeon" is a hymnal song by Elton John, Released originally in 1968, Skyline Pigeon is considered one of the first "great" songs that he and Bernie Taupin wrote, and is about a pigeon that is flying high and free having been released from a human hand. Two versions of the song exist, the original Harpsichord version from 1968, and a remade piano version, from 1972, the 1972 version, is considered the most known, having appeared as a bonus, collectible track on various albums and compilations although both versions are famous. It's also a popular cover song for multiple artists. The song appears first on the Empty Sky album and then the re-recording appears on the albums Lady Samantha Rare Masters Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player (Reissue) The song itself has spawned its own definition in recent years, as you can be referred to as a Skyline Pigeon.
