It is used as an alternative for the flag🇱🇰as to many Tamils the flag no longer represents the unity and peace it once did following the Sri Lankan civil war. (In which Tamils faced horrific racial discrimination/prejudice/violence from their own government. This way the emojis show respect to the LTTE Tamil Tigers or freedom fighters as well as representing tamil ethnicity. Used in bio’s of multiple social media apps Note: some may argue the tactics of the Tamil Tigers during the war were similar to those of modern day terrorists. By this definition the actions of the Sri Lankan and Indian government during the war should be held investaged and evaluated as the scale of which puts the LTTE’s actions minuscule by comparison. Despite this ,showing respect to them does not mean one supports these actions rather it commends the honour and strength they showed to defend their people.
