Yoppie
Stands for Old Urban Professionals. Yoppies are usually the parents of hipsters and musicians, overly intellectuals who defy the traditional institutionalized education, and are very concerned with their appearance. Many live in expensive houses and could also survive in the wild with the most top of the line recreational equipment. Extreme outdoorists. Yoppies can typically be seen in medium metropolitan areas such as Salt Lake City or Denver. Their wardrobe consists vibrant, plaid, expensive top of the line material. Typically found in high end member only paid magazines. Half the attire can be used in a moments notice for a two week outdoor trip. Yoppies typically take the idea of competing for social status extremely seriously. Their culture revolves around locally owned coffee shops, Yetti/Pattagonia/Smart Wool products and smart recreational drugs on river trips. Yoppies generally only hold political views that are considered blue. Many Yoppies go into fields such as non profits, wealthy positions in blue collar jobs, public administration, medicine and law. You may have worked with one.
