Workplace Democracy

Workplace Democracy is the application of democracy to the workplace. (Voting systems, due process, systems of appeal, etc.) Workplace democracy is extremely versatile; It can be implemented in as many ways as political democracy is implemented. Its implementation often depends on the size and culture of the organization. Historically, workplace democracy has followed the labor movement both in the UK and the US. But with the decline in organized labor, especially in the US and US-controlled firms, workers have fewer opportunities to experience workplace democracy. Workplace democracy is a key compenent in many forms of socialism, such as market socialism, because it replaces decisions made by private individuals with decisions made by workers. Organizations that implement workplace democracy are considered worker co-operatives.
