They were feared by the Christian peasants and weak noblemen in Europe, so they got tribute from them to leave them alone. The Vikings faded when they were converted to Christianity and now the Former Viking lands are insignificant and no one cares about them. *Sad face. The Abraham religions believe the Vikings will return in the day of wrecking.
