The Patience of Job
Used to describe a person who is extremely patient and resilient. It is not to be confused with "The patience of a saint," which is usually (but not always) associated with being a pushover. The phrase comes from the character Job in the Bible, whom Satan practically used as his personal plaything. But his faith never faltered despite the numerous contrived misfortunes that plagued his life.
