Instead of a horse head in someones bed, a dead cat would be left in a metal box to decay in the sun, the metal would heat the corpse increasing the rate of decay (and magnify the stench). This "suncat" could then be left for an unsuspecting person in lieu of payment for an offense or disrespect.
