The idea of Santa Clause was based on the tale of the sock genie, or Sock Djinn. On the night of the sock genie when albanian children hang there socks above the mantle of there fireplace, they place a list of there greatest desires into there sock and if they are lucky then their wishes will be granted but if the Sock Djinn doesn't want to grant your wish then you will implode.
