The last of the great "metal rushes" of the 19th century, from 1897-1899. Notable for occuring in the hostile, subarctic region of the Yukon Territory and parts of Alaska. The gold rush was immortalized through works of fiction such as The Call of the Wild by Jack London and equally as much by Charlie Chaplin eating his shoe in a skit about it.
