Funk
A style of music emerging in the late 1960's blending soul, jazz and R&B, mostly played by African Americans at the time. These days, most people mistake bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine to be funk bands, when they are actually funk METAL bands. There is a lot of difference. These bands simply take the base styles and drum styles used in funk and incorporate them into metal. REAL funk artists use pretty much the same lineup as a jazz group, which includes saxophones, trumpets, trombones, keyboards/pianos, drums, bass and sometimes guitar.
