Ethno-KomPOP
Ethno-KomPOP is a sub-genre of music that fuses the traditional elements of Haitian Kompa with the catchy and contemporary sounds of Euro-American Pop music. Coined by René Guemps, the Founder-CEO of Negre Marron Records, an independent Internet record label specializing in distributing Haitian music through digital audio formats over the Internet. It is characterized by the innovative use of the song title within the lyrics, where the title is both the starting and ending lyric of the song. Notable among the songs in this sub-genre is 'Ethno-Kompa,' a variation of an Ethno-Kompa song titled 'Ethno-Kompa.' In 'Ethno-KomPOP,' the song title is featured prominently throughout the song, distinguishing it as a unique and exciting musical style.
