Aschenbachian Homosexual
A character trope where a fictional character, who usually does not show any signs of homosexuality, becomes attracted to a person of the same gender with harmful intent, to either kill them or their innocence. They visualize their target as a concept, an aesthetic, not as a real person. This makes them obsessive characters. Some may have an idea of Ultra-Romanticism, romanticizing death if they are unable to be with the person they "love". The term was coined by the youtuber orwxll, in his video titled "Riz: The Aschenbachian Homosexual" he talks about how the character Riz from the japanese series Beastars, is an aschenbachian homosexual and the origin of the term: Aschenbach is a character from the book Death in Venice, where he develops feelings for a young boy due to his "aesthetic", Whether or not Aschenbach was homosexual is highly debatable. Nonetheless, the concept of an aschenbachian homosexual is very harmful to the LGBTQ movement. It endorses the idea that LGBTQ folk are pedophiles or murderers, which is not true. Pedophilia is not a sexual orientation, it is a mental illness.
