The Mahar is an ancient ruling / warrior caste of India. These Mulnivasi's are the most formidable and greatest enemies of the Aryans. The mahars are known for their fullest abilities, power, courage and intelligence. The Mahars were local rulers of mauryan empire. They are also Known As Bhumiputra, Maharathi or Maharthh. All of them are Mulnivasi & Nagvanshi. some of them are Suryavanshi or Somvanshi. The Mahar served in various armies from 322 BCE to late 18th Century. Including Maurya Empire, British Indian Army(East India Company), Bijapur Sultanate, Rajputana, Mughal Empire, Maratha empire. The Great Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj recruited a number of them into his army in the 16th century. They served as guards in hill forts and as soldiers. They are one of the mavalas of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. in British Raj The Mahar regiments made up one-sixth of the Bombay units of the East India Company. they served and fought Countless battles of that time. In 1941, the Mahar Regiment was formed in the indian army. Now these Indians are serving the largest democracy in the world ... India.
