Deaths directly caused by the war (including military and civilian deaths) are estimated at 50–56 million, with an additional estimated 19–28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine. The Soviet Union (U.S.S.R.) had the most deaths in World War II. U.S.S.R. lost about 17 million people. The most affected country wasn't the Soviet Union, it was Poland. Poland lost 16% of its population, the most of any country in any war. 6 million to be exact
