Triptych
Triptych: Three of Marilyn Manson's early albums all in a similar theme with the same character. The story is in reverse order of the albums, however: Hollywood- the last album he made in the Triptych, is actually the first in the story. 3. (1996) Antichrist Superstar: album about a totalitarian leader's rise to power and the culmination of the character's journey of of becoming more than human. 2. (1998) Mechanical Animals: second half in the story. The character is famous, but fame is not how he imagined and he starts to lose his sense of self. This is a bitter criticism of fame from Manson's own inside perspective. 1. Holywood: This is the first part of the story, and an album Manson made combatting the allegations against him during the Columbine era. The character suffers tragedy and discovers his purpose- basically this is a foreshadowing of what is to come in Antichrist.
