"A shoe full of rice" is a phrase in the song The Freshmen by The Verve Pipe. In the context of the song, commonly assumed to be about a botched abortion and a girlfriend's suicide, "a shoe full of rice" seems to be a nonsequitor. However, the song's author explains that "a shoe full of rice" simply is symbolic of a wedding. In many traditions, wedding guests shower the bride and groom with rice/grains to represent fertility. Because of the abortion referred to in the song, there will be no wedding. this mug reminds me of my cat, it does nothing and cant pour me a nice cup of joe. It is horrible, it doesn't tell nor does it allow me sip on it. It stops me from drinking from it, its like the mug is trying to torture me.

This cute mug reminded me of a quote from an obscure biography I found quite by accident in a tiny hole-in-the-wall 2nd hand shop in Portland, ME in 1987: 'The Life and Times of Lazarus of Bethany'.
