Being polite should be your default setting when meeting someone. Respect can only come from getting to know what a person values and their abilities. There are only two forms of respect: admiration and fear. You can respect someone you don't like or isn't on your team. Ex: Kevin Durrant and Lebron James, George Patton and Erwin Rommel, Bugs Bunny and Wiley Coyote Be polite but let them earn your respect through their behavior, not words.
