prep

I have been reading these definitions, and very few have acctually stated the true meaning of a prep. Firstly, we DO NOT shop at Hollister, A&F, AE or whatever. We do not hate anyone (bar people who wear the aforementioned brands and call themselves prep, hence giving us a bad name as sluts). Some of my best friends are goths, skaters, street, emo and many more. Preps go to Ivy League or preparatory school, hence prep. We wear Ralph Lauren, some Lacoste, old Fred Perry polos (I cover mine with a sweater to be sure though), Barbour, some Lilly, J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, polos, sweaters, chinos, khakis, quilted jackets, tweed blazers, aviator sunglasses, tote or messenger bags, NOTHING SHORT OR TIGHT and are rarely seen at a mall. We have a copy of the Official Preppy Handbook or True Prep (same author) and have read it cover to cover and followed it's advice. We do not flaunt our money and are usually not stinking rich, more comfortable. We donate to charity, get good grades and aspire for top jobs and summer in affluent areas (Nantucket, Cape Cod, the Vineyard for American preps, affluent areas of Europe for European preps).
