Poked is a term to refer to being stabbed in Toronto slang (maybe elsewhere). Pokes is also a term referring to a bladed/pointed weapon. (I hope this helps some people when living or visiting Toronto. My best ways of surviving a knife attack is de-escalating if possible, giving a robber what they want; your items can be replace and gotten back not your life.
