One of the most overlooked city's in America. The crime there is pretty overrated. Of course their is a lot of crime, but you shouldn't worry about being shot when you walk down the street. Whenever I tell people that I lived in Oakland their first reaction is always that I'm ghetto. You should check out Lake Merrit, The Cleveland Steps, Jack London Square, and the beaches in Alameda, Chabot space and science center, middle harbor shoreline park, butters drive, and Grizzly Peak.
