Nerd
Someone who is a academically committed. It is usually not a good thing when it gets to extreme (complaining to the teachers about empty syllabi, unprofessional behavior etc.) Anyway, there are a lot of misconceptions about nerds. Here are a few: 1. Someone can act and look totally nerdy, but is an amazing athlete. Likewise, someone can look fit and great at playing cool, but can't play sports to save their life. 2. Nerds can act like nerds at school, but when they get home, they are just like any regular kid who is not a nerd (maybe even more awesome!) This is sometimes but not always caused by parents who are very strict about academic performance.
