Do not confuse a nerd with a geek, geeks are nerds that do not have the same motivation as nerds. A nerd is one who does not care that he does not conform his personality to the norm. He/She does what they want and they dont really care. They are usually smart and push themselves to be the smartest and best they can be. not all nerds are weak and ugly. Some nerds can be quite preppy. Nerds have many friends, usually they are all other nerds yet in many instances nerds do have non-nerd friends. Nerds usually have a knowledge in computers and other technology, yet it is not neccasary. Nerds are smarter then other classes, and as they progress in life they will be more succesful then all of the other classes (preps, Jocks etc.)

Your description is right on, except in 1989 I named my daughter Kallen Mikel (www.kallenmikel.com/original-art). I thought I made up the name, but apparently, it originated as a boy's name in Greek and Hebrew. I first found this out in 2001 when I was traveling to Finland. In the 'tube food' section in a big Finnish supermarket there it was, a royal blue tube of salmon paste with a blonde-haired boy named Kallen! So now I have discovered that there are many Kallen's of both sexes. I want to buy her a cup, but it has 'him' on it. Is there any way you can make that a unisex description for both sexes? Just askin'. Being a Barbara (Barbs) myself ... a 'cake eater' from Edina, MN I had to ask ... haha ;-)
