CCP's most blatant and obvious attempt to milk the players of their MMO EVE - Online, of their real life money. The monocle is an in-game vanity item that is only available through a special currency (AUR). The monocle costs about 12000 AUR, which = 4 PLEX = ~70.00 usd (35.00 per plex). The monocle has caused insane amounts of uproar and frustration in the EVE Online community, and has found its place in several articles comparing it to the infamous Horse Armour scandal (2.50 usd) which was about 18 times cheaper.
