mastodon is, besides an extinct mammal and a metal band, a decentralized open-source social media tool. If I'm understanding it correctly, there are a lot of different servers running mastodon software. These are called instances. People with accounts on one instance can interact with people on other instances. All these instances together are called a federation. It seems to be particulary popular with people who are fed up with twitter, because of it's lack of ads and increased discourse between people running the instances and people using it. It also seems to be popular among japanese people, for two of the biggest instances are japanese language, one of which is hosted by pixiv. It is also possible to host a private mastodon instance that is invisible to outsiders. This could prove very helpful for companies. The Urban Dictionary Mug
This mug was a Father’s Day gift for my dad, and let me tell you, it is the greatest mug ever produced by humankind. Not only does it have a simple, minimalist design on it with my father’s name, but also the witty definition on the back that perfectly describes him. While he only uses the mug to hold his pens, I’m sure it would act perfectly fine with any sort of beverage in it as well. Great as a little joke gift! But a little on the pricey side for a coffee mug. If I didn’t love the person as much as I do, I would probably never spend that amount on a normal coffee cup.
