Magic Sponge
The quite ordinary sponge used by physiotherapists to treat injured soccer players on the pitch. After applying the damp sponge the player is miraculously healed. This leads many to speculate that the player was only feigning injury in order to gain advantage or a penalty. The sponge is merely a prop to give the impression that some treatment has taken place. That effing Ronaldo was rolling around in agony as though his leg was broken in five places, then the physio rubs him with the magic sponge and he's fine! There's less diving at my local pool.

This cute mug reminded me of a quote from an obscure biography I found quite by accident in a tiny hole-in-the-wall 2nd hand shop in Portland, ME in 1987: 'The Life and Times of Lazarus of Bethany'. Quote: " We are all walking wounded held together by the scars of our forbearance and the charity of our sisters and brothers." Truer words have never been said.
