Legolas
An Elf character in Tolkien's Legendarium who was created late into writing because Tolkiem changed his mind on the Elvish companion of Frodo. He had meant for Glorfindel to accompany the Fellowship. Thus Legolas is one of the most underwritten, undefined and hallowed characters in the Fellowship. Not that Gimli or Aragorn are that better. Legolas has a here and there friendship with both but mostly, Tolkien left too much to imagination about him. In the films, Jackson tried to improve the character as best as he could: Gimli and Legolas have a stronger friendship ("What about side by side with a friend?") and great interactions with Aragorn. He is great with a bow and he also has his dual long blades.
