Clout hunters may harass, chase, or even stalk real celebrities, trying to get filmed with them or sneak into their spotlight for a quick hit of fame. They might also spread rumours or bad-mouth people online to boost their own image. They’ll sometimes put themselves — and others — in danger by attempting reckless or idiotic stunts, like climbing buildings or hanging off ledges, all for the chance to go viral. These stunts can lead to serious injuries, prison time, or even death.
