In video games, the removal of abilities, tools, weapons, etc., usually done early in a game to offer the player a preview of more advanced powers. In a traditional castroition, the player will spend the rest of the game regaining their abilities to gain access to different areas within an open game world. (Derived from the combination of Castlevania and Metroid by the cast of the Rebel FM podcast.)
