ARFID
Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder - A largely unknown and extremely misunderstood eating disorder that causes extreme food sensitivities and distress when trying new foods. The most common symptom is a limited (and very poor) diet, which can cause numerous issues. ARFID commonly coexists with autism, itself a common cause of food sensitivities. ARFID is different from picky eating in that it is not something you grow out of. It is not "immature." People with ARFID long to be able to experience food like a normal person. Unfortunately, virtually no one understands this; as a result, ableism runs rampant with this disorder.
