Ambient Abuse
A form of intimidation or psychological abuse, sometimes called Gaslighting. where false information is presented to the victim, making them doubt their own memory, perception and quite often, their sanity. The classic example of ambient abuse is to very subtly toy with someone's environment in a way that you know they're sure to notice, but then deny knowing anything about it, and to explain that they "must be imagining things" when they challenge these changes. Doing this on a long term and/or methodical basis (as opposed to the occasional practical joke) with the intent to cause distress and harm would be considered ambient abuse. A more psychological definition of ambient abuse is "an increasing frequency of systematically withholding factual information from, and/or providing false information to, the victim - having the gradual effect of making them anxious, confused, and less able to trust their own memory and perception.

this mug reminds me of my cat, it does nothing and cant pour me a nice cup of joe. It is horrible, it doesn't tell nor does it allow me sip on it. It stops me from drinking from it, its like the mug is trying to torture me.

This cute mug reminded me of a quote from an obscure biography I found quite by accident in a tiny hole-in-the-wall 2nd hand shop in Portland, ME in 1987: 'The Life and Times of Lazarus of Bethany'. Quote: " We are all walking wounded held together by the scars of our forbearance and the charity of our sisters and brothers." Truer words have never been said.

What's funny is the saying that everyone searched for is the one that popped up on the cup. So all the weird gross sayings that people are commenting on are completely out of context to everyone seeing their comment.
