The second year of the new millennium and of the 2000s. 2001 was a really good year (Excluding the 9/11 event). It was the last year of the 90s setting, but not the decade which ended two years before. (In 1999 - of course, however the setting was still there in 2000 and half in 2001). GameCube and Xbox were born, Nickelodeon aired shows like As told by ginger, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, CatDog, etc. meanwhile, social media did not exist back in 2001, so everyone talked to each other with their eyes locked, rather than using their phones to text each other, even though they are literally sitting next to each other. The year where iPhones were flip phones, and the first iPod was born. Great music was up, like It wasn't me from Shaggy or Can't get you out of my head.

Your description is right on, except in 1989 I named my daughter Kallen Mikel (www.kallenmikel.com/original-art). I thought I made up the name, but apparently, it originated as a boy's name in Greek and Hebrew. I first found this out in 2001 when I was traveling to Finland. In the 'tube food' section in a big Finnish supermarket there it was, a royal blue tube of salmon paste with a blonde-haired boy named Kallen! So now I have discovered that there are many Kallen's of both sexes. I want to buy her a cup, but it has 'him' on it. Is there any way you can make that a unisex description for both sexes? Just askin'. Being a Barbara (Barbs) myself ... a 'cake eater' from Edina, MN I had to ask ... haha ;-)
