It is important to note that this is the most basic explanation of the term and Its use may not always comply with the one written above. In conclusion, the use of the term is subjective. To understand how the term "The Death of Art " can be subjective, we have to look at some examples that stray from the mainstream portrayal of art. For example, recently there was a rising wave of popularity of music, painting, and other multimedia that on the surface doesn't possess any meaning, emotion, or technical skill. For some, who prefer art to have complex storytelling, a wide range of well-executed ideas, and overall cohesiveness, they might consider mindless enjoyment of media that sole reason for existing is to exist, to be the death of art. Others might find over-sexualization in media to be harmful to the quality and respect of the art those artists produce. But maybe the most objective way "The Death of Art" can be used in is a situation where art itself is disrespected by acts of plagiarism, making a profit by manufacturing success and manipulating the public. Some newest Drake discography and Justin Bieber "Yummy" scandal can be named as recent examples. tl;dr - the death of the art is in the eyes of the beholder.

Your description is right on, except in 1989 I named my daughter Kallen Mikel (www.kallenmikel.com/original-art). I thought I made up the name, but apparently, it originated as a boy's name in Greek and Hebrew. I first found this out in 2001 when I was traveling to Finland. In the 'tube food' section in a big Finnish supermarket there it was, a royal blue tube of salmon paste with a blonde-haired boy named Kallen! So now I have discovered that there are many Kallen's of both sexes. I want to buy her a cup, but it has 'him' on it. Is there any way you can make that a unisex description for both sexes? Just askin'. Being a Barbara (Barbs) myself ... a 'cake eater' from Edina, MN I had to ask ... haha ;-)
