It may be related to the notion of running backs or receivers, or pass interceptors, or kick returned breaking tackles with nothin' but green ahead of them to the end zone. It may also have a double meaning for those same running backs or receivers who are looking forward to nothin' but green at contract time as in show me the money source - I heard this on two local radio stations from 2 different NFL players. Heard at work by one 'regular person'
