Neo-pronoun
Neo pronouns Neo pronouns are a neologism pronoun that differ from traditional English pronouns: he, she, they, I, you, and one. Neo pronouns can be traced back into mid-17th century, having been documented in George Fox’s 1660 book stating, “for using those words to some proud men, who would say, 'What! You ill-bred clown, do you Thou me?'" Other neo-pronouns such as Thon caught on for a short while from late 1800’s to early 1900’s, recorded in “Funk and Wagnalls, Supplement to A Standard Dictionary of the English Language, 1903” thon. Pronoun of the 3rd person, common gender, meaning “that one, he she, or it”: a neoterism proposed by Charles Crozat Converse, and apparently complying with the neoteristic canons, since it supplies an antecedent blank, obeys a simple and obvious analogy, and is euphonious. Neo-pronouns have since died down in usage but have resurged in mid 2010’s by Non-Binary individuals (people who identify outside of the gender binary) who expressing comfort in being referred to types of neo-pronouns.
