กำเนิดมาจากกลุ่มผู้มีรสนิยมชอบการ์ตูนหรือหนังที่มีเนื้อหาชายรักชายหรือหญิงรักหญิง(Yaoi & Yuri) โดยคนกลุ่มนี้จะมีมโน(หรือจินตนาการ)ที่สูงมากๆ สามารถจิ้น(Imagination)ได้กับทุกอย่างขอแค่ตัวเองมีความรักความชอบในสิ่งนั้นๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการจิ้นคู่ตัวละครโปรดที่ไม่ใช่คู่หลักของเรื่อง แต่จิ้นให้อยู่ในไทป์ที่ตัวเองชอบ เช่น พระเอกxพระรอง , พระรองxพระเอก , นักร้อง1xนักร้อง2 , ปล่องไฟxหลังคาบ้าน , กล้วยxส้ม ตามสมการ รุกxรับ ดังนั้น กล่าวได้ว่า คำว่าจิ้นไม่ได้กำเนิดครั้งแรกเพื่อการใช้จับคู่ดาราโดยสื่อมวลชน แต่เป็นการหยิบยืมความหมายไปใช้โดยที่ไม่ได้รู้ถึงความหมายแฝงว่า จิ้นคือการจับคู่จัดคอมโพสิชั่น AxB หรือ รุกxรับ นั่นหมายถึงจะมีเรื่องเซ็กส์ชวลเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง แรกเริ่มเดิมทีก็มีคนไม่พอใจที่สื่อนำคำว่าคู่จิ้นมาใช้แบบผิดๆ เพราะคู่จิ้นนั้นหมายถึงความมโนส่วนตัว หาใช่เกิดจากการยัดเยียดของสื่อหรือโฆษณาแต่อย่างใด

Holy Cow, when I ordered the mug I mistakenly googled flenching instead of fetching!
