What's on your mug?

it is rock music released on an independent label take 2 bands and compare...the black keys and yo la tengo do u see any similarity? no u probably dont. thus it isnt rly a genre listening to indie doesnt make u unique or cool or special if u like indie, it makes u just as special as liking classic rock, rap, blues etc...people should stop pretending they like indie rock bands, and listen to what they really like....

kid who doesnt know about music: "yea dude i got this new MM album, i semi like the way it sounds but dont appreciate the rly good hard work put into it. look everyone i like indie rock " kid who knows his stuff: "w.e dude listen to wat u really like, ur wasting ur own time"

Generally, if you know about an indie band you are cool, and if you don't you are mainstream or even whitebread. So you better learn about the latest indie band before you aren't cool.

I told him I liked Lifehouse and Coldplay and he just called a mainstream whitebread. His insults make no sense... he loves indie rock.

Yet another Mtv/Top Of The Pops creation, which will in five or so years be dead once they have invented more garbage to market. Not only are they NOT cool, they are seriously lacking in talent. I am not a hater who has never listened to whole albums of these artists either, I have listened to many albums and know one thing- they are all the same! They all bore me sleepy, I just can't listen to a whole album without regretting it, the music is unchallenging, lacks any innovation (the basic style hasn't changed much since the 60's) and has definately not got a cool image. Anything promoted by Mtv is sure to be a waste of money, bands like Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian and The Killers are all artificial shite. In contrast however it is still a viable alternative to goth-inspired metal or the spineless rap Mtv plays. Lets face it, at least Indie relates to REAL people, but just lacks the musical talent and innovation to make it worth my hard earned cash.

In this age of shockingly bad music at least Indie Rock isn't the worst of the lot.
