one who appears clean-cut or strive to seem slightly better off financially than others. preps would most likely wear American Eagle,Abercrombie and Fitch,Hollister, OldNavy and polos sometimes with the collar up. they listen to what ever the newest shit u see on trl/bullshit they play on the radio(some of it is good).preps usally watch the OC, one tree hill, american idol,Laguna Beach,the hills,E! . not all preps go to a prep school or broading school. Most preps think they are are the coolest people. they r always doing the lastest trends. preps mostly think whatever they do is the coolest thing ever

prep 1: do u want to come over? prep 2: what r we going to do? prep 1: watch the OC. prep 2: ok sure.

THIS meaning of prep is a misconcepted, but modern meaning of a prep. A prep is usually someone who wears polo shirts,capris,shorts,denim skirts,tight T's,and flip flops.The store they usually shop from are Hollister,Abercrombie and Fitch,American Eagle and Aeropostale. They carry around Coach purses. Their hair is usually medium length or long (cut to about their boob)and is straight,and sometimes, girls with black or brown hair have blond highlights but it's not required to be considered "preppy." They're usually very confident, happy, they giggle alot, a bit snobbish, they hang in a clique full of other preps, innocent looking, and is usually flirty so they get mistaken as whores. But the thing that seperates them from a whore is that their make-up is minimum. The only make-up they wear are mascara, peach blush, cover up, and lipgloss, nothing fancy. They like "In" music and likes to buy popular items. Something not usually mentioned is that they are "perfect." Perfect eyebrows, perfect legs, white teeth..But as long as they try their best to have the best hygiene, they don't have to be "perfect". Preps like to say: "Ohmygawd, no way!" Or "Totally!" or "Like" alot.

Claire: "Ohmygaawd Courtney, guess whaaat? Tammi's on the South Beach diet and she's already lost 5 pounds last week. Ah-mazing." Tammi: Like, no way! Ohmygawd, Shardaiya said preps are the same as whores, we should totally betch slap her.

People in today's world believe that to be preppy you need to wear certain clothes. That is not true at all. Preppy is a lifestyle. Growing up in a quaint New England town, going to private school and when you get to high school you go off to a boarding school. You do sports like Sailing, Skiing, Polo, Tennis, Squash, Golf, and Horseback Riding. When summer comes you enjoy going away for weekends with your friends and family on your boats and or your summer home and while growing up you get a small boat such as a boston whaler. You enjoy music such as Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, G-Love and the Special Sauce, Bob Marley, Sublime, O.A.R., Matchbox Twenty, etc. Preps enjoy a relaxed lifestyle. Many are also conservative and they are very polite people. When you speak about clothing many people believe that Hollister and Abercrombie and American Eagle are preppy. Thats not true. Real preps wear cloths such as Vineyard Vines, Polo Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, J. Crew, Nantucket Reds, Musto, Henri and Lloyd, Gill, North Face, Spyder, Nautica, etc. For shoes Top-Siders, and Rainbow or Reef Flip Flops. They are members of there local yacht club and meet many of their friends there. For cars preps drive Audi's, Volvo's Saab's, Mercedes-Benz's, and BMW's. we also own apple computers and what not. Preps are not a superficial people. They just enjoy having very nice, and reliable things that they know will last them a very long time. We come from families known to most as Old-Money families.Hopefully you will know start to understand preps a little better.

Fake Prep: Yea i spent all of my money at the mall buying stuff from hollister and spent the rest of my night talking badly about other people at the mall while i was there. True Prep: Well i just got back, me and the family went to Martha's Vineyard for the weekend with some friends.
