When someone limits people from certain hobbies/memories/activities over something as small as the year that they were born in. Gatekeeping is frowned upon, so I don't recommend doing it. It's also a really stupid thing to do.
Example of gatekeeping: Anyone born in 2007 is a tide pod eating 2010 kid who doesn't deserve to have a opinion. Please don't gatekeep, its really rude and immature. I just wanted to show an example of how gatekeeping is used.

Gatekeeping is when someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or who does not have access or rights to a community or identity. The type of gatekeeping I see are the birthdate gatekeeping like “iF yOu wErE bOrN iN 2o08. yOu wErE tHe lAsT pEoPlE tO hAvE a DeCent cHiLdHoOd”

I miss the early 2010s... late 2007 born (September-December): me too man... early 2007 born: stfu you had to grow up in the late 2010s because you are literally next year so take it and mid 2007 born (may-august): all people born in our year and the neighbouring years had a similar experience while growing up. gatekeeping shouldn’t matter

When people discriminate against others who want to enjoy the same things as them, and usually gatekeepers use the dumbest reasons as excuses. Only justified when it's against Tiktok because 1. - Tiktok as a whole is ruining our youth and is useless to humanity, and 2. - it's not even a cause worth defending. Other than those instances, gate keeping is trash.
Gatekeeping sucks, don't do it.

Gatekeeping is a way of protecting cool things (like certain music, style, hobby...) used by the OGs.We protect these things from posers/trend followers/normies so they dont become mainstream.If you get mad at people who gatekeep you are one of those 3 things(poser/trend follower/normie).If you support it and use it you are probably an OG/real fan.
