Contrary to popular belief, this term was originally coined in the late 1970's and was used primarily by adolescent boys prior to their discovery in later grades that a continual use of gender preference based slang terms tended to prompt the listening audience (girls) to question the users own gender preference... Surfacing generations later in popular media and as a call back to past cultural references, this and many other archaic terms are often given erroneous origins, which could be prevented by first checking it with your Old Man before posting it online...
