So many people think Gen-X starts in 1964-65 and that this is because it is when thedemographic baby boom dropped. But this is incorrect. There are [scientific] charts and graphs which PROVE that the baby boom [officially] ended around 1960, when that big high line in the birth rate graph suddenly takes a DIVE. It didn't start to dive in 1964, it started to dive in 1959. It's like watching a plane crash. It didn't happen all in one year and it didn't happen in 1964, and it most certainly marked the end of the baby boom. Although the official "bust" arguably occurred around 1965, it makes no sense to classify someone born in 1960 as a baby boomer---or some OTHER generation---solely on the basis of this much perpetuated----and unending---baby boom drop-off confusion. The [Generation Jones] issue does not help to address this issue, in my opinion, except for MARKETING purposes perhaps. The younger half of Gen Jones (1960-1964) is, [ultimately], the first wave of Gen X---the leading edge ---and not culturally different enough from those born between 1965 and 1971 to be considered a different generation.
