A feeling that is impossible to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it. The closest synonym is "extreme happiness". It originated in North Carolina on top of a mountain at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, but has since spread across the country. Once someone has felt the spirit, they will never be the same.
