In 1998, [white people] went crazy, when Puff Daddy released his hit single "it's [all about the Benjamins]" A common misunderstanding amongst suburban white folk was that in the lyric "Now... what y'all wanna do? Wanna be ballers? Shot-callers? Brawlers -- who be dippin in the Benz wit the spoilers." Puff Daddy was using a hip new urban term "Shakallers" when in actual fact he was just saying shot callers. In [upper middle class] white communities hipsters would fight amongst each other to decide who was the bigger baller/shakaller. Soon enough the word became viral and now can be found used in just every high school kid's myspace profile that was created in the late 90's.
