A wierdly spelled Polish name (usually last). It was spelled Copens, but some ancestors decided they'd be "funny" and changed it to Coppens. It confuses everyone a whole bunch because it's [pronounced] cope-pens. But people [almost always] pronounce it as cop-pens, as it is spelled like that, but it's not [pronounced] like that.
